Ski Slope / Ice Enclosures
McVeigh Insulations used the knowledge and experience gained from cold
storage construction to design and build an indoor 'real snow' ski
facility named XSCAPE in central Milton Keynes. The enclosure 175m long, 60m
wide was constructed using 200mm thick mineral fibre core composite panels
to the walls and lid. Specialist design curtain walling was incorporated into
the construction providing a viewing gallery from the adjacent health club.
The floor insulation was provided using an expanded polystyrene core
composite panel
laid onto a vapour control membrane. Rope access techniques were adopted for
the application of vapour seals which are paramount to the success of the
installation die to the extreme climatic conditions.
Since the completion of Xscape, Central Milton Keynes, McVeigh Insulations have
been awarded repeat contracts for similar developments at Castleford, West
Yorkshire and Braehead Glasgow. Another example of our ability at McVeigh
Insulations to deliver innovative solutions successfully time and time again.
Ice enclosures have become increasingly popular for different activities.
We have completed installations for ice climbing in Milton Keynes, Covent
Gardens and Manchester. Repeat business has enabled our design team to
draw from previous knowledge and experience making each
subsequent project even more sucessful.
Using similar techniques the sub-zero section of the VALHALLA ride has been
constructed at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
