Project Overview

Working alongside Lakesmere and Hemsec SIPs, McVeigh Insulations were awarded the Contract for Prefabricating the Structural Insulated Panel system for the restoration and refurbishment of the gothic Midland Grand Hotel with developer Manhattan Loft Corporation to create a new five-star Renaissance Marriott Hotel – St Pancras Chambers.

Due to the site restrictions of the adjacent railway station and working at height, a prefabricated solution was necessary.  The SIPs were assembled into sectional units and the external finish of traditional zinc and window frames were all incorporated into the off site design at our premises in Hyde.  Delivery of the bespoke solution was made possible by the adaptation of half a dozen flat bed trailers, each were scheduled to site on a just in time basis for lifting directly onto the building.

Key Benefits/Successes

  • Flexibility of the SIPs product.
  • Flexibility of our design and workshop teams.
  • Involvement in an amazing iconic Building.
