Project Overview
A phone call out of the blue, that’s how McVeigh SIPs got involved with the new Isaac Newton Academy being constructed on High Rd in Ilford. Colin Smith, Associate Director at Skanska Construction contacted McVeigh SIPs to review the building design and make our proposals. Due to the demanding U values and low air leakage values of the project our 225mm thick Structural Insulated Panels became the obvious choice. We completed Skanska’s rigorous vetting procedure which included accreditation on the Achilles Building Confidence programme and the design progressed alongside Architects Feilden Clegg Bradley.
Over 4000m2 of 225mm thick SIPs were installed to form the insulated walls of the 4 story building within critical tolerances for the following brick slip rainscreen system. Chris Davies managed the contract on our behalf with and installation crew supervised on site by Mick Corriette.
